Mathematics Journals & Portfolios

Safety in numbersSo, aside from bad jokes, what can you expect in Mathematics this year? Mathematics is more than the study of formulas and figures; it is the study of reasoning and logic. We will be learning about many areas of study (Maths Course Outline 2008), but more importantly we will be working on our understand of how what we study makes sense to you.

To do this, each student will be required to write a journal or portfolio of their progress in Mathematics. I’ll  be looking at your journal regularly to help me to help you improve your understanding of what we are studying. Before you start to worry about how much “extra” work this is going to be, think about what you learned in Xplore about project work and planning – doing this will actually make the work that you do more effective and help you spend your study time efficiently.

See you in class.
